Journal Information

The Classical Connection is a unique academic journal with two publication formats, each designed to foster intellectual growth, collaboration, and open discourse.

  1. Main Journal: Our main publication runs year-round, offering a platform for scholars, researchers, and thinkers to contribute to the ongoing Great Conversation of Western civilization. We welcome submissions that align with our mission and vision, promoting constructive dialogue and bridging the gap between classical wisdom and modern insight. The Classical Connection is an open-access journal, meaning all articles are freely available to readers, and there is no cost to publish with us.

  2. Annual Student Issue: In addition to our regular publication, we proudly present an annual student issue published once per year. This initiative is specially designed to encourage students to gain publication experience, offering them an opportunity to engage with academic writing and contribute to our broader intellectual community. Submissions for this issue are open to students from diverse academic backgrounds, reflecting our commitment to inclusivity and collaboration.

By encompassing both professional scholars and emerging student voices, The Classical Connection is paving the way for a more flexible and engaging academic experience. We believe in the democratization of knowledge and the importance of making scholarly work accessible to all. Our commitment to open access and free publishing represents a step towards a more inclusive and enriching academic environment.

Our commitment to conversation:

We deeply value intellectual ambition and believe in nurturing the potential in every submission that resonates with our mission. Our review process is rigorous but encouraging, aiming toward constructive feedback. Our hope is to reject no submission outright but offer feedback that helps it align better with our standards. This is the best method we could think of to retain academic quality while ensuring that everyone has a fair chance to participate in academic dialogue. Thus, if your paper is really bad but it aligns with our vision and is interesting, we'll make sure it gets reviewed as many times as necessary to get it publication-ready.

To that end, we highly encourage early career scholars to publish with us.

Our workflow.

Note: Exceptions to the workflow may be made if circumstances warrant. Our ability to accommodate will be largely dictated by the final publication deadline.

  1. You submit a paper.

  2. Paper undergoes editorial review.

  3. If paper is considered suitable for peer review, it is blinded and sent to reviewers.

  4. Paper is returned to you with one of the following outcomes:

    1. Accepted

    2. Accepted with minor revisions

    3. Accepted with major revisions

    4. Rejected

  5. If applicable, make the suggested changes within 1 week.

  6. Editors and reviewers review paper and decide if it's ready for publication.

  7. If paper is ready, it's published. If it still needs some work, the review process is repeated.
